Laws were weak, financial resources were limited, and very few people were willing to believe that things could change. <br><br>But\u2026 SHE chose to take the first step\u2026! <br><br>Step by step, together with her husband, Roger Lapis, and a team that shared her vision, she built one of the most respected animal welfare organizations in Eastern Europe.<br><br>First came AMP Victory, the sanctuary where dogs rescued from abandonment, accidents, cruelty, or illness are given the chance of a new life. Next came AMP Libearty, the world\u2019s largest sanctuary for brown bears rescued from captivity, followed by AMP Hope, home to more than 60 domestic animals rescued from situations of extreme cruelty. <br><br>Because change also requires education, nearly 1,000 children take part each year in educational programs held in schools throughout Bra\u0219ov and the surrounding communities.<br><br>Today, tens of thousands of animals are alive because, nearly 30 years ago, someone had the courage to believe that every life deserves a
