What to expect?
A world you have to see for yourself
69 hectares of freedom
A forest of centuries-old oak trees, with designated trails and pools, offering the bears space, peace, and the freedom to retreat whenever they choose, away from visitors’ eyes.
Over 130 bears, each with their own story.
Every bear at the sanctuary has a name and a story worth hearing. Your guide will take you through their stories—some harrowing, all deeply moving.
Not only bears
AMP Libearty is not a zoo, but a sanctuary for rescued animals. Bears, wolves, and deer live here in safety after being given a second chance at life.
The Brown Bear Sanctuary in Zărnești, set in a peaceful natural environment, offers a rare opportunity to discover these remarkable animals in their habitat.
The bears live across vast spaces encompassing dozens of hectares of enclosed forest, following their own natural rhythm. Sometimes they approach the visitor trail; at other times, they choose the peace and quiet of the forest. You may see them climbing trees, splashing in pools, or playing with one another. At other times, they may retreat deep into the woods, leaving only their tracks along the trail.
Every visit takes place as part of a guided tour along a designated forest trail. Your guides will share the stories of the bears rescued by the AMP Libearty team.
The pace of the tour allows you to connect with nature and the animals and understand why this sanctuary is unlike any other place.
At the end of your visit, you will leave knowing that your ticket meant more than just a tour: it helped provide food, care, and well-being for the bears, giving them the chance to live free from exploitation and suffering.
Your safety is our priority! An electric fence separates visitors from the bears at all times.

Are you organizing a trip for a group of children?

Respect comes first
The bears at Libearty come from harsh conditions in captivity. Here, visitors enter their world—not the other way around. The bears choose where to stay, when to appear, and how close to come to the visitor trail. Everything is designed around their freedom and well-being.
A life close to nature
At Libearty, the bears finally have the space they were denied for years: hectares of forest, water, trees, and peace. They roam freely, rest in the shade, play, explore, and follow their natural instincts. During your visit, you will be able to observe them from a distance while respecting their space and natural rhythm.
Your visit helps more than you think
When you choose to visit us, you leave with more than just a memorable experience. You become part of the rescued bears’ story and contribute to everything that gives them a better life.
