Andi was just a bear cub when it started hanging around a restaurant on the edge of the forest, in the Dâmbul Morii area (Brașov). It was small and the people there took pity on him, so they started leaving him food like a puppy. When he got older, the restaurant people thought he was old enough to take care of himself. But Andi didn’t want to give up the free meals. He had learned that it was easier to get ready-made food rather than look for it in the forest.
One day, it bravely entered the restaurant’s pantry and emerged victorious with a sack of potatoes. Then, it showed up at a barbecue in full swing, and his latest feat was the one that earned him a shooting order. It showed up at a wedding. We joke now that maybe he wanted to steal the bride, but the authorities didn’t get the joke at all.
Fortunately, the forest manager took pity on it and asked us if we would like to save him. Andi was still very young, only about two years old, and deserved a second chance. That’s how Andi ended up with us, far from restaurants, weddings, and barbecues, but safe. Today he no longer has to steal potatoes to survive, nor to become a wedding crasher.
