Jean is one of Kati and Doru’s babies who were born at a zoo in Caracal (Olt County) in 2001. He spent about 7 years in captivity and first he shared the same cage with his parents. When he got older he was moved in a separate cage with his brother bears. There he found out the meaning of suffering, because he had few space, and had to fight for the food. Mommy wasn’t there anymore to defend him and feed him.
He and his parents were finally rescued in 2008, and released in the same enclosure. Now they are enjoying together hectares of forest with pools, trees and lots of vegetation.
