About the three little furry balls that roll over and happily explore the enclosure in AMP Libearty Sanctuary is Daria thinking! She’s the female bear that can’t use one of her fron paws after she got herself caught in a poacher’s trap.

Even if she is severly disabled, the mother has never abandoned her cubs. Even since they were born, Daria has risked her life and freedom to offer them all they needed. In the first period of her babies’ life, Daria started to serach for food in people’s yards in Darmanesti village, Bacau county, as she didn’t find enough food in the forest. People feared the bear family and called the authorities. They captured Daria and her cubs and brought them to the Libearty Sanctuary.

The mommy is still getting used to the Sanctuary as she finds it very difficult to accept the enclosure’s fences.

The family needs to live away from the rest of the bears, in a special enclosure. The Wild Enclosures dedicated to the bears that come directly from the forest as they can’t be relocated anymore and would get killed if we didn’t take them in the Sanctuary, need extra security systems. Each of these places needs two electrical circuites powered by different suppliers.

In the same time, the food needs for bears with cubs are complex! Both the mom and the babies need vitamins, fresh fruit and supliments.
