Martinică spent the first 20 years of his life in a cage, inside the yard of the Cotmeana Monastery (Argeș County). He was found in the forest when he was 1 year old by the monastery’s administrator. Initially the Sanctuary team has tried to persuade the administrator to give the bear up voluntarily but as he refused to do so, Martinică was finally confiscated with the support of the authorities. He arrived to the Sanctuary in October 2007 and since then he’s enjoying the grass, the oaks, each rain drop and snow flake.

Adopt Martinica with a minimum donation of 5 euros / month (60 euros / year). With this contribution, we can ensure that the adopted bear has a honey jar every month. When you finish the donation for a year, we will send you an adoption certificate.

We appreciate if you can support a greater part of the need for the bear’s care. If you represent a company, you can adopt a bear exclusively with a donation of 600 euro / month. The company's logo, accompanied by the name of the adopted bear, will be placed in the sanctuary. Over 30,000 visitors will see that the company you represent is involved in animal welfare.
