Project Description
Boris was one of the last bears from the enclosed zoo in Onesti, a small town from Romania. His long and powerful claws disappeared while walking on the hard concrete floor of the cell, and his broken teeth have lost the battle with the iron bars, chewed during these years of frustration.
Originally he and Kodiak lived in Radauti Zoo, northern Romania, but they came to Onesti zoo in 2002 to satisfy the curiosity of the children here. According to the manager of the zoo the bears were about 17 years old, but no one knows their exact age. The Rădăuţi Zoo had no medical records of them, so their age was determined approximately.
