Maria and Marko were prisoners in a small, dirty cage for two years, the first in their lives, near a restaurant in Tirana-Abania. No one knows where they come from or if they are brothers.

A local woman, Montserrat Battlo, saw the miserable conditions the bears lived in and decided to do everything in her power to give them a dignified life in their natural environment. She got in touch with the president of the Millions of Friends Association, Mrs. Cristina Lapis, and, in a joint effort, they managed to bring Maria and Marko to the AMP Libearty sanctuary.

Now they are finally free to run and climb trees, feel the grass under their paws and swim in the pools.

Adopt Maria with a minimum donation of 5 euros / month (60 euros / year). With this contribution, we can ensure that the adopted bear has a honey jar every month. When you finish the donation for a year, we will send you an adoption certificate.

We appreciate if you can support a greater part of the need for the bear’s care. If you represent a company, you can adopt a bear exclusively with a donation of 600 euro / month. The company's logo, accompanied by the name of the adopted bear, will be placed in the sanctuary. Over 30,000 visitors will see that the company you represent is involved in animal welfare.
