Project Description

Masha was rescued from a private zoo in Gyumri, Armenia. She was only four years old. There were hard years for her. The place where she lived was abandoned, and the animals were left to starve. The only survivors was Masha, another bear called Grisha and 3 lions. All the other animals were dead.

Saving survivors was a huge effort. Masha weighed only 30 kilos and Grisha, only 50 kilos. To cope with transportation, the two were moved to a Zoo in Yerevan, where they lived for six months.

On April 1, 2016, the two bears arrived in Libearty. For the first time in her life, Masha touched the grass with her paws and smelled the forest. Today, Masha is no longer the sad, shy and very weak bear. She is healthy, very beautiful and is playing all day with Grisha and other bears.
