Tex was taken over from the Brașov zoo when he was just a few months old, by the owner of a farm, annex of the Uranium Factory in Feldioara (Braşov County). The new “owner” kept him encaged for almost 4 years. When the Environmental Guard came in inspection, the farm owner had no legal documents that could allow him to keep the bear, but a Donation Document from the zoo. According to the law, there is no document allowing a person to keep a wild animal in captivity.
In April 2007, Tex was confiscated and brought to the Libearty sanctuary .

Adopt Tex with a minimum donation of 5 euros / month (60 euros / year). With this contribution, we can ensure that the adopted bear has a honey jar every month. When you finish the donation for a year, we will send you an adoption certificate.

We appreciate if you can support a greater part of the need for the bear’s care. If you represent a company, you can adopt a bear exclusively with a donation of 600 euro / month. The company's logo, accompanied by the name of the adopted bear, will be placed in the sanctuary. Over 30,000 visitors will see that the company you represent is involved in animal welfare.
