A better New Year for Susie!

Street dogs have no holidays. Among them, a small, weak dog was about to miss the New Year. ”She was covered with snow and was lying near a car. She curled up in the snow, and the snowflakes kept falling on her. She had icicles on her whiskers and could barely move.” This is how Diana Laura Nohic’s story begins. She’s a student in the ninth grade at Andrei Șaguna National College in Brașov. In December, together with her class she organized a charity visit to the public dog shelter in Stupini and the Victory shelter in Triaj. As a result, Diana was familiar with the services provided by AMP. ”I brought her inside my house and after she warmed up, she began to move. The next day I made an announcement on Facebook, but nobody wanted to adopt her. I worried about her limping, so I decided to take her to the Stupini shelter,” Says Diana.
Diana is a ”pedigree” animal lover. She and her mother rescued three cats and two dogs—all from the streets. She would have loved to keep the ”frozen” dog, too, but her family no longer had enough space. The AMP representatives in Stupini appreciated her efforts and came up with a solution. ”Diana paid for Susie’s x-rays. So we discovered an older leg fracture in which the bone healed incorrectly. This is the reason why she was limping,” says Brândușa Popa, the public shelter’s co-administrator. Luck smiled again on the little patient in the person of Ulrike Don, a volunteer from Ireland and devoted friend of our association. Ulrike covered all the vaccination costs, including those for heartworm and babesiosis, a blood parasite. After a week of treatment in the shelter’s infirmary, Susie began to step on the affected leg. After she recovers fully, Susie will go to Germany, where a loving family is waiting to adopt her.
