An old lady and a little girl — Lupa and Snow, to be exact. These are the dogs chosen by a woman from Brasov who adopted them from a distance. Because she doesn’t have enough space or time to care for them every day, Diana Filomena Tolovici decided that she would help them, even if these dogs remained at the shelter. Sending the monthly allowance for their care and medical treatment wasn’t the only thing she did. She also went to see them at the Victory shelter.
“It’s one thing to see them in pictures and another to hold them in your arms… Snow, the little one, is a sweetheart. Although she’s ill, she wagged her tail the whole time. And Lupa, although she’s been through so many things in her life, is a good and affectionate dog,” says Diana, who had a hard time saying goodbye to her two charges after her visit. „I left the shelter with the firm impression that the dogs are well cared for in all respects. I also saw the really hard work that workers do there and that this shelter really needs help. It’s easy to scream out that stray dogs are a problem. People are the problem! And if we would just acknowledge this and would all decide to help, we wouldn’t have stray dogs, crushed on the streets, beaten or bitten people,” believes the adoptive mother. During her visit to the Victory shelter, Diana was given an adoption certificate for Luna and Snow. She said she’ll photocopy it so that she can have it both at home and at her office, on the wall, where everyone can see it. Maybe this way—she hopes—she’ll convince other people to become parents at a distance for some of the 600 dogs now living at the shelter.
