Courtney Bennington is an American citizen who made voluntary activities in 2009 at the Libearty Sanctuary. She loves animals very much and she has come from USA to spend 8 weeks in the bear’s company, in the interval September-October 2009. She decided to gather some experience with the bears from the Sanctuary before engaging in studies to become a veterinary technician. Currently, Courtney is finishing her studies and hopes to have the opportunity in the future to work with big/exotic animals. She is working at an animal clinic and at a local shelter doing training classes and behavior assessments.
As a volunteer, Courtney contributed to the core activities of the Libearty Sanctuary: she helped preparing the food for the bears, feeding them and helping with general conservation. She spent her time around the bears and came to cherish them so much that she would have loved to take them home with her. But as this was not possible, she found a better way to have them with her wherever she would go and whatever she would do. As soon as she turned back to the Sates, she had a teddy bear tattooed on her right arm and this way she can look at it and she can even caress the bear on her arm whenever she misses her furry friends.
