Adnan Maral came to the Libearty Bear Sanctuary on the first day of May, to do a film project for Arte (a German- French channel). The documentary film of about 5 episodes is about animals and the conflict between human beings and animals. Together with his crew, Adnan has traveled all around the world to make shootings with wild animals like the elephants from Sri Lanca, the Chimps from the Ivory Coast, the cheetahs (ghepard) from Namibia and the brown bear from Romania. As an animal lover, for Adnan the whole project was a pleasure: “For me personally is a pleasure to help the animals because I love animals, I have a dog and I love him, it is a gift for me, for our earth, for my children to be careful with all the nature and with the wildlife. It is my opinion and I’m trying to be careful and I also want to let people know the significance of this care and protection”, said the actor.
„You have created a place where bears can live in freedom”
Adnan has seen bears before only in the zoo. Now he had the chance to see the difference between the bears from the zoo and the bears from the sanctuary. “It is amazing but it’s also sad because even if you see the bears running free, climbing trees, getting in contact with each other they still come back and sit in front of these fences. The bears are free, but when you watch them walking around in circles like that you also understand that they are still suffering. Here they are very quiet and comfortable”, shared the actor.
During his visit in the sanctuary, the German actor had travelled on the back of the truck which workers are using to carry food to the bears. After seeing and feeling the way food is carried and sorted out, the actor picked up a shovel and started to throw food over the fences, directly to the bears mouth.„ You have created a place where bears can live in freedom and close to the wildlife. This is one of our missions as human beings, to protect them and offer them the life they live here. You are the creator of this mission and I thank you for that”, told us at the end of the filming.
The humans-animals conflict
The purpose of this documentary is to understand better the conflict between humans and animals and to present the projects that are being done against this problem. Facing these problems directly, talking to people and getting involved in this project has helped Adnan to see how the animals are acting and reacting in this project. “The most important thing is that the animals have their own natural environment where they can live in peace” said Adnan.
Who is Adnan Maral?
Little known to the international audiences, Adnan Maral is however a well-known name in Germany. Theater and television actor, Adnan became known thanks to a serial broadcasted on ARD. The Turkish-born actor plays also in a serial for children, and this documentary is the first attempt to offer his talent to the world of the animals.
