This fall, on October 1, the first snowflakes had already fallen in the sanctuary. Bears and humans alike blanched at the sight of the white threat coming from the sky—some of snow, othersof worries. In a few hours, the colorful autumn landscape has turned into a white outfit with a January touch. The bears came out of the bushes to welcome the new season, strolling quietly under the envious glances of those who don’t have a thick, warm coat of fur. The sanctuary employees weren’t as happy as our bears for this wintry guest, for it announces the hardest time of the year. During the winter, their hands will freeze on shovels and food boxes and will work for hours in the cold, removing snow from roads and access routes. All this to offer these beautiful animals the life they deserve after years of captivity and torment. Fortunately, the snow lingered for just four days, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Fall is regaining its rights, and the warm sun rays have brought the green color back in the oaks.
