A she-wolf will run free together with other wolves at Libearty

The representatives from Regional Centre Wildlife Care and Treatment (CZITAS) from Petrești (Vrancea) appealed to the Millions of Friends Association to save a two year old she-wolf, who was raised in improper living conditions.

She was kept in a private yard in Uriu (Bistrița-Năsăud county, in the north of Romania), together with dogs, and was fed with food wastes. Her sister, who was also kept captive, had the chance of rehabilitation and went back in the forests. But the wolf that was brought to the sanctuary in Zărnești is now almost domestic and would have had no chance to survive in its natural environment.

The animal is now waiting for a name, to be more than a number in a file and become a member of the association. She could not be sheltered in the Regional Wildlife Care Center, as they keep the animals only for a certain period of time, in order to be rehabilitated. Libearty sanctuary would be her only chance to live her life in the woods, together with other wolves.

After she came to the sanctuary, the wolf was set free in the quarantine area. After two or three weeks in here, a careful medical examination, vaccination and sterilization, our new friend will have the chance to enjoy freedom, together with the other nine wolves in the sanctuary.

You can offer your support for all the medical treatments and care that all the animals benefit from in the sanctuary, by donating here.
