The Victory shelter will shortly have new facilities for the treatment and care of dogs. A modern veterinary clinic, a reception hall and specific annexes will find their place in a new and energy-efficient building. The building is raised through a project partly financed by World Animal Protection – Netherlands, the Association Millions of Friends Romania, Love UnderDogs UK and Bund gegen Missbrauch der Tiere eV Germany. The project is worth 30,000 euros.
The works started two weeks ago with the demolishing of a 40 year old building. This building – which used to be the Post-operation area – was old and outdated and in fact a ramshackle. . In the place of the demolished building the land was leveled and a reinforced concrete foundation was poured on an area of 100 square meters, with access to branching. „AMP is doing a wonderful job not only in their shelter, but working on all aspects of dog population management in Brasov. This is such a good and positive example for Romania that World Animal Protection gladly supports the construction of the necessary new clinic. This will enable the treatment of many dogs which otherwise would never see a vet”, said Sabine Zwiers, Campaign Manager Europe, World Animal Protection.
The building will provide enhanced facilities: a modern clinic, with special annexes: consultation room, post-operative room, surgery room, and collection room. The interface of the clinic will be a waiting room designed for people who want to castrate their cats or dogs, or for volunteers engaged in practices at the shelter. “We try to bring the dog shelter closer to the community and to increase the number of adoptions and sterilizations. The old clinic was outdated, without a consultation room, and the tools and the space were insufficient. We thank our partners for the involvement”, said AMP president, Cristina Lapis. The project will be completed by this summer.
