At least 12 schools in Brasov County and other counties have planned educational visits to the bear Sanctuary. During these visits, over 500 students had the opportunity to see some of the 72 brown bears, to hear the most tragic stories of the tortured bears in Romania and to watch a documentary about the rescue missions of the bears. In addition, the AMP representatives from Brasov taught the little ones how to respect the bear in his natural enironment, how to beware of meeting wild animals during trekking and how to give a hand to create a better world. The little ones were marked in particular by the sad story of Maya and wanted to know where her grave is … the answer that she is buried on the mountain, in the woods, far from any trail or human foot, convinced the little ones who would not have understand at this age of innocence, the procedures with Protan.„ In addition to animal welfare, the most important goal of the Libearty Bear Sanctuary in Zărnești is the education. Only through education we are able to respect and help the wild animals. The most important visitors of the Sanctuary, are the children, because on them depends the future of wildlife in Romania. Thus, each occasion where children can come to visit the sanctuary is welcome. It is our responsibility to educate our children to understand better what the wild animals really need. It depends on us if in the future we will be seeing the wild animals only on TV, or we will have the chance to see them in the forest as well.”, said Cristina Lapis, the president of „Millions of Friends” Animal Protection Association.
