Brașov, 12th of April. The „Millions of Friends” Animal Protection Association from Brașov was requested to take over a lost bear cub from his mother. The 2 months old bear cub has been discovered by forestry workers who worked in the wooded areas of the Seacă Valley, on the outskirts of Şinca Nouă. Most likely, the mother bear was shot during a hunting party, as these kind of incidents occure especially when „the chasing” method is applied.
Through a responsible citizen, who contacted AMP, the cub has arrived on Monday to the Libearty Sanctuary from Zărnești. The association representatives contacted the Bear Cubs Rehabilitation Center in Bălan, Harghita County, where the baby was taken during this week. Here, the bear will learn how to live like a wild animal and after learning the survival skills, he will be released in the forest in order to become a free bear. „Given that this time of the year the bear-hunting is allowed and several cubs are still fragile, we remind the people who find bear cubs, that holding one of these wild animals in captivity or their sale is prohibited by law and is punishable by a criminal fine or imprisonment. Anyone who finds a bear cub is asked to notify the „Millions of Friends” Animal Protection Association on the following phone number +40 (268) 471202. The more young (up to six months)is the bear, the chances of reintroduction in nature grow” said Cristina Lapis, president of AMP Braşov.
