Libearty – a honey moon destination for a new family

An American couple included the Libearty sanctuary in their honey moon trip. Myra Chai and Jed Castillo decided to visit Romania, just a few days after their wedding.

Here is their confession about the experience they lived through:

“When we first learned that Romania had a renowned bear sanctuary, we knew that this was where we wanted to spend our honeymoon. Bears have been a very important part of our relationship and Myra has had a deep love for them for as long as she can remember.

Coming to the Libearty Bear Sanctuary was truly an eye-opening experience, both in learning about the extremely cruel conditions that these bears have been subjected to, and seeing them in their new cage-free lives. While these bears can never go back to the wild, they are in an infinitely better environment than they would be otherwise. We were lucky to see 30-40 bears when we visited in October, and while the psychological effects of cage syndrome are still evident, it was heartwarming to see many of the bears recovering from their prior torture. One of the highlights of the tour was seeing the joy on our guide's face when she realized how large Terra and Pluto had become. We were also happy to see collaboration with the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in the USA that brought Betsy to your sanctuary.

We are so glad that even though we had only five days in Romania, that we dedicated time to visit Libearty and have been telling our friends and family back home about all of the great work that is being done there. Thank you for all that you do for these bears, you have our utmost gratitude.“

The AMP team thank Myra and Jed for their visit and their nice words and is ready to offer the same astonishing experience to our friends from all over the world!
