Regardless of season or weather, the Libearty Bear Sanctuary never rests. During the summer, as it rains harder, the gras grows thicker and taller. To maintain a clean and tidy look, but mainly to keep the electrical wires of the fencess surrounding the enclosures running, the Sanctuary team makes sure that the grass is always being mowed. Three electrical wires run outside the enclosures, with the first wire just 10 cm from the groundEven after a short summer rain, growing grass affects the proper functioning of the electrical wires, causing power outages.
Why the need for the electric fence, you might wonder? Well, precisely because the sanctuary is located in the bears’ natural environment – deciduous forest. Attracted by food, at the Sanctuary, wild bears, wild boars, and other animals would be tempted to become guests…
