The bear from Dâmboviţa does not deserve to die!
“Millions of Friends” offers him a chance for life

Brașov, 20th of September 2012. The “Millions of Friends” animal protection association from Brașov is concerned about how the situation of the bear involved in the accident that took place on September 19, 2012 near the town Moroieni, Dâmboviţa County, is handled.
According to the information taken from the media, the bear, “guilty” for the tragic death of one man is actually a “victim” of poaching and he reacted instinctively to save his life.
We can not blame a wild animal for the unconscious and illegal actions of some people.
After so many tortures endured, this bear deserves to live and the Association “Millions of Friends” has offered it’s help to receive this bear to the “Libearty” Bear Sanctuary in Zărneşti, the only brown bear sanctuary in Romania and the largest across Europe. This is the only solution for the bear to stay alive. We are assuming all the costs involved in taking him over, after he will be captured, his medical treatment and his accommodation for the rest of his life.
Is it fair for a tortured and injured bear by the greed of poachers, to receive, in addition, a bullet?
However, for a case of “self-defense” the life imprisonment of a wild animal is a sentence big enough. We place our hope that the competent authorities will listen to the willingness of thousands of Romanian people of leaving the animal alive and will change the decision of shooting the bear, into transferring him to the Bear Sanctuary from Zărneşti.

Braşov, 20/09/2012                                                                                                  Sincerely,
                                                                                                                                     Cristina Lapis
