The Libearty sanctuary, supported by Brasov International Marathon, powered by Telekom Sport

The fifth edition of the Brasov International Marathon powered by Telekom Sport, which will take place on May 25th and 26th, will support the cause of the bears in the Libearty sanctuary.

For five weeks, 25% from the registration fees of the competitive races ( 10k, half-marathon and marathon) will be redirected to the sanctuary and one euro will be donated for every contestant who will run in the popular race.

„We grew every year, together with the community of Brasov and we wanted for this edition to renew both our visual identity and also the social cause that we bear with the support of Telekom Romania Foundation. Thus, the new concept is focused on the brown bear, a symbol of the Brasov city and of the area and the beneficiary of the collected funds will be the largest brown bear sanctuary. Thus, we want to contribute to the conservation and good life conditions of the bears who reached the sanctuary from all over the world“, says Vlad Stoica, the president of Smart Atletic, organizer of the competition.

Brasov International Marathon is a mass sport event, representing also a time of great celebration for the county, of promoting the cultural and gastronomic tourist attractions.

Brasov appeared on the map of the road marathons, alongside Bucharest, Cluj and Arad, and in 2017 became a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). The event is part of the series of road marathons supervised by this forum, which also includes the most important road marathons in the world.

Anyone can take part! From six to +90 years, by choosing one of the eight races, with different lengths: marathon – 42km, half marathon – 21km, the 10.7km race and the popular races of 2.5 and 5.7km (non-competitive and untimed), team run 4×10.7km and races for the children between six and 14 years old, but also the University Cross (2.5km), dedicated to students.
