The old den has been built in wood and its purpose was to offer Ursula a safe shelter during the winter. But the old lady didn’t understand the purpose of the den and she used it as a sofa preferring to sit outside in the fresh air. By time, the den gave way under her weight, and what should have been a shelter, now crashed and could not be repaired.
The winter is rapidly approaching and the Sanctuary team also rushed to finish as soon as possible the new den for Ursula.
It has been made of a BOSS prefabricated concrete tube of 1 meter long and 1 meter wide. The tube has been placed in the ground and outside it has been camouflaged with hazel roots, grass and other plants from Ursula’s enclosure, being a part of the Sanctuary’s landscape now. For more comfort and heat, this den has been lined inside with a large amount of hay.
For the moment Ursula still prowls around new refuge and she will probably understand the purpose of it after the first snow, when the winter comes.
