Each year in Romania, schools dedicate the first week of April to extracurricular activities, calling it The Different Week. Every school organizes trips or lessons, different than the daily classes and visiting the sanctuary was one of these activities. 1.200 students from all around Romania have chosen to spend one hour each at Libearty, some of them traveling considerable distances, coming from Timisoara, Sibiu and Bucharest. Most of the students came from middle schools, but there were also some kindergarten children and high school students.
The weather was very changeable, showing the students during the first days of the week, the meaning of “the snow of the lambs”, and in the second part of the week treating the visitors with warm rays of spring. The children loved the outings and only few of them gave up because of the weather. Moreover, the bravest have left the buses at the main road and added to their program some hiking to the sanctuary.
All children have left the sanctuary with a new lesson. They listened to the bears’ stories and were amazed and delighted by bears climbing the trees, playing in pools or in the snow. The activities dedicated to the Different Week are part of the educational strategy of AMP, whose main purpose is to provide domestic and wild animals a better world.
