Yogy arrived to the sanctuary in April 2011 . Until that day he spent his life behind bars at a zoo in Sibiu. As he was already too old, some younger bears were brought to the zoo and Yogy ended up in a dirty and dark cage in the back of the zoo where nobody could see him. When we arrived to the scene he already got used to the idea of life imprisonment. The Sanctuary staff was happy to take over the 30 year old bear and offer him a chance to discover the freedom of the oak forest as Yogy never had the chance to know a tree, the grass or the clear blue sky. Now he has the opportunity to feel, smell and touch all these. Now he lives a happy life together with the other bears from the second large enclosure.
