Ursula was a unique bear. All of the bears at the Libearty sanctuary are European brown bears but Ursula an Asiatic black bear. In fact she was the oldest of the former prisoners of Buhuşi Zoo, wher she lived and with Alla, Benny Ben and Baby. In the zoo she was always asleep, could see the visitors the zoo was a ball of black fur. The zoo eventually closed and this was her ticket to a better life. Moving from the Zoo to the Libearty Sanctuary was not easy for Ursula. For more than 30 years were she had lived on the concrete floor with the bars of the cage, which also began to fade when she began to lose his sight as she developed cataracts in both eyes, probably due to her poor diet.
In May 2008, she was released in the sanctuary. Ursula was very confused as to she could see everything only in a fog. Because of her age, cataract surgery on both eyes would be too risky. So she lived a quiet life in a separate enclosure with her own warm den and a sparkling fresh water pool. Here she spent most of her time sleeping or sitting in her pool.
On December 27, 2014 she passed away in her sleep.
