Gentle beasts among scrap iron

Remat

Amp and the public shelter of the City Hall in Brasov continue the sterilization campaign of dogs living on private areas – factories, warehouses, industrial and commercial areas. In March, the workers of the shelter focused on the collection and recycling center, REMAT. There were about fifteen dogs living in the yard of this company among scrap iron, car skeletons, cables and plastic waste. “Some of them were covered by engine oil. Another one was limping – he had a wound on one leg, and the puppies were kept in containers for collecting plastic caps from Bottles”, says, the assistant manager of the Public Shelter, Brândușa Popa.
The workers of the shelter found nine puppies, of which five were only two months old. With the support of “Millions of Friends” two puppies already left to Netherlands and Finland where they were adopted. Four female dogs – of which one already gave birth to six puppies – were taken to sterilization. After recovery, the healthy and clean adult dogs were returned to the center. People working at the center were amazed when they saw their “recycled” animals. ”They forgot how a clean dog used to look like, without marks of grease and oil. We gave the health books of the dogs containing their microchip details to a responsible person from the management of the institution. They have committed to care for these dogs and promised to keep them only inside, “says Popa.
Some of the dogs lived at REMAT for 8-9 years, and the employees working here are kind to them, offering them plenty of food. The dogs are defending the yard full of scrap from thieves and are kind to employees. What employees don’t realize is, that without sterilization and medical care, dogs will multiply above measure and may suffer from various diseases.
