Project Description

His mother was shot by hunters, and he was "imprisoned" with his brother by their mother’s executioners. They were put in a cage next to a cottage in the mountains, where the bosses of a mining company spent the weekends. The bears grew up, mining went down, the cottage remained in ruins, and the adult bear brothers were forgotten in their small cage. Due to lack of food, the brothers had a fight. Graeme was defeated and lost his right eye. However, he was the lucky one, because he was handed over to the Baia Mare zoo. His brother died, probably in pain and starving to death, in the only “house” he ever knew, the cage. After 21 years of captivity, Graeme has finally stepped onto the grass and is now enjoying nature at the Libearty sanctuary in Zarnesti. Read more about Graeme
